Griffey Might Stay In Chicago For Less Money
16th October, 2008 - 2:54 pm
Chicago Tribune - The White Sox hold a $16.5 million option but are expected to give Ken Griffey a $4 million buyout, which they will split with Cincinnati.

But agent Brian Goldberg stressed that Griffey enjoyed his time with the Sox even though they were eliminated in the American League Division Series by Tampa Bay, and he might be amenable to playing for less money.

"Junior loved the dynamics of the White Sox, from Kenny to Ozzie Guillen to some of the coaches," Goldeberg said. "We'll see what happens."

RealGM Note: Griffey was ranked 218th in season FIC in 2008 and 'deserved' to make $4.25 million, giving him a Reina Value of -49%. [READ]
